Every woman of the parish is welcome to become a part of an organization that has provided service to St. John’s for approximately 70 years. Meetings are scheduled for the first Wednesday of the month from September to June. Come together at 9 am for a short meeting, to pray the rosary, and enjoy coffee, treats, and conversation.
We offer a special service to parishioners when a death occurs in the family…we serve these members lunch. Many of these funeral lunches involve 200 or more family members and this is where we need your help (men and women). Please consider volunteering, if only for an hour, to help with the many tasks to prepare the church hall for this special event.
Trained volunteer parish members make contact with parishioners at a time of need. Members visit parishioners who are hospitalized or residing in nursing homes. Communion is brought to those who are home-bound. The focus of this ministry offers outreach to those who have special needs.
The St. John’s community supports families from the parish and surrounding area that may not be able to purchase gifts during the holidays because of financial or some other hardships with our Giving Tree. The weekend of Thanksgiving a tree is put up and decorated with tags that include requests for gifts and food. Parishioners can take a tag and buy the requested gift. These gifts are collected until the week before Christmas. Second collections are held during Advent to help purchase larger gifts, food baskets or any tags remaining on the Giving Tree. Gifts and food are distributed by parish volunteers the weekend before Christmas.
“Ask and you shall receive”. Special prayer requests are continually prayed for. All requests are kept confidential. Feel free to call the parish office.
